Road freight is the backbone of trade in Ghana. Most cargo landing at Tema Port or Takoradi Port completes its journey by truck, and almost everything moving between Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale travels the N1, N6 and N10 corridors.
We operate that first and last leg. Whether the load is a single pallet of consumer goods or a low-bed movement of mining plant, the same discipline applies: the right vehicle for the cargo, a driver briefed on the route, and documentation prepared before the wheels turn.
Choosing the wrong vehicle is the most common cause of delay and damage in Ghanaian haulage. A flatbed saves money on a short urban run and costs you the load in the rainy season. We size the vehicle to the cargo, the route and the weather, not to whatever is idle in the yard.
Ghana enforces axle load limits at weighbridges operated by the Ghana Highway Authority, and ECOWAS applies harmonised limits on regional corridors. Overloading risks fines, impoundment and — more expensively — a truck stopped mid-route with your cargo on it.
We plan loads to stay within the legal limits for the vehicle configuration and the corridor. Where a consignment genuinely exceeds them, we arrange the abnormal load permits before dispatch rather than discovering the problem at a weighbridge.
The figures below are typical door-to-door transit times in normal conditions for a standard load. Rainy season, port congestion, border processing and abnormal load escorts all extend them. We quote a specific window for your consignment rather than an average.
